Baptist Church Beliefs

We are steadfast in our conviction that the foundation for our church family's intellectual and spiritual development is God's Word. The goal of our church is to retain members who will amplify God's supreme splendor and act as agents of transformation.

  • Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is God's inspired revelation to man. The whole Bible in the originals is the very word of God, written without error. It is the essential, trustworthy, and authoritative rule for truth and life. Reading the Holy Scriptures is a privilege that guides us to teach, model, and obey God's words to others.

    • Mark 12:26, 36; 13:11
    • Luke 24:27, 44
    • John 5:39, 10:35
    • Acts 1:16; 17:2–3; 18:28; 26:22–23; 28:23
    • Romans 15:4
    • 1 Corinthians 2:13; 10:11
    • 2 Timothy 3:16-17
    • 2 Peter 1:20-21, 3:16
  • God

The Godhead exists eternally in three beings- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These eternal three are one God, all equal in power and glory, possessing the same nature, attributes, and perfection. We believe that there is only one true God and He is infinite and holy. God is the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth.

    • Genesis 1:1
    • Deuteronomy 6:4
    • Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19
    • 2 Corinthians 13:14
  • Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only begotten son who became a man without ceasing to be God. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, sinless in life while atoning for the sins of all who believe in His death across the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, and His promise to return to our world. He is our Divine Lord and Master.

    • John 1:1–2, 14; 2:1–2
    • Luke 1:35
    • Romans 3:24-25, 8:34
    • 2 Corinthians 15:3
    • 1 Peter 1:3-5, 18-19; 2:24
    • Luke 24:39
    • Hebrews 7:25; 9:24; 10:9–14
    • 1 Peter 1:3–5
  • The Holy Spirit

We hold to the doctrine that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the blessed Trinity, dwelt in every believer, united all people to Christ in one body through His baptism and that He is the source of all power and all acceptable worship and service. We hold that He never leaves the church or the weakest of the saints, but is constantly there to bear witness to Christ, trying to keep Christians focused on Him rather than on themselves or their own experiences. When Christ returns to receive His own at the conclusion of the church, His habitation in the earth will come to an end.

    • John 14:16–17; 16:7–15
    • 1 Corinthians 6:19
    • Ephesians 2:22
    • 2 Thessalonians 2:7
  • Satan

We believe that Satan is the creator of sin and that, with God's approval, he subtly led our forefathers into sin, causing their moral fall and subjecting them as well as their descendants to his power. Satan is the enemy of God and his people, opposing and exalting himself above all that is referred to as God or that is worshiped. He even emulates the works of God by promoting religious movements and doctrines that, in every instance, are characterized by a rejection of the efficacy of the blood of Christ and salvation by grace alone.

    • Genesis 3:1–19
    • Romans 5:12–14
    • 2 Corinthians 4:3–4; 11:13–15
    • Ephesians 6:10–12
    • 2 Thessalonians 2:4
    • 1 Timothy 4:1–3
  • Man

We believe that the Genesis account of creation is historically and literally accurate.  We maintain that man was first made in the likeness and image of God, that he fell through sin, that he lost his spiritual life as a result of his transgression, that he became buried in trespasses and sins, and that he came under the dominion of the devil.

We also hold that every member of the human race, with the exception of Jesus Christ, has inherited this spiritual death, and that as a result, every child of Adam is born into the world with a nature that is fundamentally and irredeemably flawed in the absence of divine grace.

    • Genesis 1:26; 2:17; 6:5
    • Psalm. 14:1–3; 51:5
    • Jeremiah 17:9
    • John 3:6; 5:40; 6:35
    • Romans 3:10–19; 8:6–7
    • Ephesians 2:1–3
    • 1 Timothy 5:6
    • 1 John 3:8
  • Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift from God that is obtained by personal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. The certainty of everlasting salvation comes from confidence in God's promise in His Word that everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ has eternal life.

    • Acts 16:31; 4:12
    • John 1:12; 3:16, 18; 20:31
    • Ephesians 1:7; 2:8–10
    • Ephesians 2:10
    • Titus 3:8
  • The Christian Life

We hold that all followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to live in separation from the world, in which they have been crucified through the death of Christ. They are also commanded to abstain from worldly lust and other behaviors that could hinder spiritual development or set them back, bringing dishonor to the Cross of Christ. The believer is expected to conduct oneself honorably, remain unnoticed by others, and be fervent in carrying out good deeds.

    • Ephesians 2:10; 5:3-9
    • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
    • Colossians 3:17
    • Luke 8:14
    • 1 Thessalonians 5:22
    • 1 Timothy 5:6
    • 1 Peter 2:11
  • Church Ordinances

We believe that the Church originated with the Holy Spirit's advent at Pentecost and is made up of all Believers in this era. The Holy Spirit baptizes us into Christ's one body. The believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances of the church. The Lord's Supper consists of bread and the fruit of the vine. These ordinances are scriptural means of testimony for the church.

    • Matthew 28:19
    • Luke 22:19-20
    • Acts 2:1-47; 10:47-48; 16:32-33; 18:7-8
    • 1 Corinthians 11:26
  • Baptism

We believe that Scriptural water baptism is the water immersion of a redeemed individual by the authority of a New Testament Church in the names of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Scriptural baptism demonstrates, in a solemn metaphor, our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. It is a requirement for church membership.

    • Acts 2:41; 8:36-39
    • Romans 6:3-5
    • Matthew 28:19
  • Resurrection

We believe that the culmination of the great tribulation will be the premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will make His adversaries His footstool and establish up His Kingdom on earth. Following His Second Coming,  Christ will reign over the nations of the earth with an iron rod in righteousness and justice, and peace for a thousand years. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved will be blessed with everlasting life, and the lost condemned to endless conscious punishment.

    • Daniel 12:2
    • Acts 1:11
    • 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

    • Hebrews 2:8; 10:12–13
    • Revelation 19:11–20:5-15
    • Isaiah 9:6–7
  • Judgement

We believe that the corrupt dead will be returned and condemned according to their actions at the final judgment. Whoever is not found in the Book of Life, along with the devil and his angels, the beast, and the false prophet, will be punished for all eternity in the lake of fire and brimstone. This is the second death.
